What wAitch! does with video
The camera feed is read by your browser and analysed on your device. No frame of video is uploaded, streamed or stored by ArkLive Ventures. Snapshots and clips you save go to your own downloads folder.
What is stored, and where
Settings (camera name, preset, your spoken line, hours, voice) and the last 50 events with small thumbnails are kept in your browser's local storage on this device only. They are not synced anywhere. The Clear button deletes the events; clearing site data in your browser deletes everything.
What is fetched from the internet
The detection library (TensorFlow.js and the COCO-SSD model) is downloaded from public content delivery networks (cdn.jsdelivr.net and storage.googleapis.com) the first time you start the camera, then cached. Those networks see an ordinary file request from your IP address, as with any web page. Nothing about what the camera sees is sent with it.
Cookies, accounts, analytics
None. There is no sign-up, no cookie, and no analytics on this preview build.
Notifications and the microphone
Notifications are optional and shown only on the device running the camera. The microphone is not used in this version.
Recording other people
You are responsible for using wAitch! lawfully where you are — including, where it applies, telling people an area is monitored. The optional spoken tag line ("This area is monitored by wAitch") is one way to do that.
Who to ask
